About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme

This Graduate Teaching Assistant placement is your first step into teaching via the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme. You will support teachers in class, work with small groups of students, and gain valuable insight into the day-to-day life of a teacher—all while preparing for full teacher training.

You will:

  • Begin in a Graduate TA role and receive guidance as you build your confidence

  • Progress through a two-phase teacher training programme designed to develop your classroom skills

  • Work towards a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University

  • Earn a salary throughout the programme—no tuition fees required upfront

  • Receive one-to-one mentoring and take part in a blended training programme based on the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework

Phase 1: Focused on shadowing, small group support, and guided reflection.
Phase 2: Transition to teaching independently for up to 18 hours per week while completing academic requirements.

This is the perfect pathway for recent graduates ready to grow into confident, well-prepared secondary teachers.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you should:

  • Hold a UK undergraduate degree (any subject considered)

  • Be enthusiastic about working with young people in a secondary school environment

  • Be committed, resilient, and open to learning from experienced educators
