Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Primary Teacher – HLTA (Phase 1) opportunity at a welcoming and supportive primary school in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.
This salaried role allows you to begin your journey as a Phase One trainee, gaining valuable whole-school experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) while studying for your Level 4 qualification, with a clear progression route to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.
As part of your HLTA role, you will:

Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2

Deliver small group interventions and targeted support

Lead lessons under guidance as your confidence grows

Contribute to planning, preparation and assessment

Play an active role in the wider school community

Develop strong classroom management skills through supported practice
This role is ideal for a graduate who wants to earn while they train, build practical classroom experience from day one, and develop into a confident, qualified primary teacher within a nurturing school environment.
About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, experienced Teaching Assistant, youth worker, tutor or aspiring educator with a passion for primary education.
We are looking for someone who:

Is a motivated aspiring primary teacher / graduate trainee

Holds a degree (any subject considered, though education-related is advantageous)

Has experience working with children (school, tutoring, coaching or similar)

Is enthusiastic, reflective and eager to grow into an excellent teacher

Demonstrates commitment to high standards and teamwork

Can build positive, professional relationships with young children

Is ready to embrace feedback, mentoring and structured development
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training

Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school

Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers' Standards

Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, professional studies sessions and in-school experience

Gradually increase teaching responsibility as your skills develop
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:

Independent teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)

Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)

Ongoing mentoring, assessment and development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured progression ensures you gain the skills, confidence and recognised qualifications needed to begin your career as a fully qualified primary teacher.
