About the Role

Are you a graduate considering a career in teaching? Do you want to gain meaningful classroom experience while earning a salary and working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)?

A high-achieving state boarding school in Wymondham, Norfolk is seeking a Resident Fellow to join their team this September. This is a unique opportunity to combine pastoral boarding responsibilities with a structured, salaried teacher training pathway through Grad2Teach.

This role is ideal for aspiring teachers looking for a fully supported, school-based route into the profession.

About the Role

As a Resident Fellow and Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning across the school

  • Deliver lessons, interventions, and co-curricular activities

  • Contribute to boarding house life and pastoral care

  • Gain hands-on classroom experience without the pressure of a full timetable

  • Begin a Level 4 NCFE qualification in teaching practice

This is a salaried teacher training role, meaning you are employed from day one while completing structured professional development aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards

During Phase One, your training takes place outside contact time, allowing you to build confidence gradually. You will develop essential skills in behaviour management, lesson planning, safeguarding, and professional conduct.

Following successful completion of Phase One, you will progress into Phase Two, where you may:

  • Teach independently (up to 18 hours per week)

  • Complete a PGCE with QTS in partnership with Coventry University

  • Work towards full Qualified Teacher Status

About You

We are looking for a:

  • Graduate with a strong academic background

  • Aspiring teacher or career changer exploring a long-term future in education

  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills

  • Organised, resilient and committed to professional growth

  • Enthusiastic about working in both academic and boarding environments

This Resident Fellow position in Wymondham, Norfolk would particularly suit a graduate trainee who enjoys community life and wants immersive school experience before moving into full classroom responsibility.

You do not need prior teaching experience — but experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work) is highly desirable.

Training & Progression – The Grad2Teach Pathway

Grad2Teach is a salaried Initial Teacher Training programme designed to help schools grow their own teachers

Phase One:

  • Level 4 NCFE Customised Qualification

  • Structured training days

  • Mentoring and tripartite reviews

  • Gradual increase in classroom responsibility

Phase Two:

  • PGCE with QTS (Coventry University partner)

  • 60 Master’s credits

  • Independent teaching timetable

  • Ongoing mentor and university support

This two-phase model ensures you are confident, capable, and fully prepared for a long-term teaching career.

Why This School in Wymondham, Norfolk?

  • Outstanding pastoral environment

  • Supportive mentoring culture

  • Strong academic outcomes

  • Unique boarding school experience

  • Located in Wymondham, Norfolk with excellent transport links to Norwich

This Resident Fellow role offers more than a typical graduate cover supervisor post — it is a structured, salaried route into teaching with long-term progression.
