About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to begin your journey as a Trainee English Teacher in a supportive secondary school in Cambridgeshire. This graduate teaching role offers a structured, salaried teacher training programme through Grad2Teach, allowing you to gain hands-on classroom experience while working towards becoming a fully qualified teacher.

As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will:

  • Support English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Work alongside experienced teachers to develop your teaching practice
  • Gradually take on more classroom responsibility
  • Build confidence without the pressure of a full teaching timetable

You will earn while you learn, developing practical teaching skills in a real school environment while completing your Level 4 qualification.

About You / Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated and passionate graduate trainee, aspiring English teacher, or career changer who is ready to begin a rewarding career in education.

You should:

  • Hold a degree (ideally in English or a related subject)
  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics at least C/4 or above
  • Have a strong interest in English literature and language
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to becoming a teacher
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be eager to learn and develop as a trainee educator

Experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.

Training & Progression

Grad2Teach offers a clear, structured pathway into teaching:

  • Phase One (Level 4 Qualification):
    • Gain classroom experience with reduced timetable pressure
    • Complete an NCFE-accredited Level 4 qualification
    • Training aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teaching Standards
    • Structured support, mentoring, and regular development reviews
  • Phase Two (PGCE with QTS):
    • Progress to independent teaching (up to 18 hours per week)
    • Complete a PGCE with Coventry University
    • Achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

This two-phase programme allows you to develop at the right pace while remaining fully salaried throughout your training.
