About the Role
Are you a graduate or aspiring teacher looking to begin a primary trainee teacher role in Peterborough? This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive primary school in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, while completing a salaried teacher training programme with Grad2Teach.
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will gain hands-on classroom experience supporting pupils across the primary age range. You will work alongside experienced teachers, gradually building confidence without the immediate pressure of a full teaching timetable.
This graduate teaching role offers a structured pathway into teaching, where you can earn while you train, develop practical skills, and progress towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting teaching and learning in a primary classroom
- Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom activities
- Working with small groups and individual pupils
- Developing behaviour management and teaching strategies
- Building confidence as a future primary teacher
About You
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic graduate trainee, aspiring teacher, or career changer who is passionate about working with children.
You may be:
- A graduate considering a career in primary teaching
- GCSEs in English, Mathematics and Science at least C/4 or above
- A teaching assistant or support staff member ready to progress
- A career changer seeking a meaningful and rewarding profession

Training & Progression
Grad2Teach offers a two-phase salaried teacher training programme designed to develop you into a fully qualified teacher.
Phase One (Level 4 Qualification):
- Complete an NCFE-accredited Level 4 teaching qualification
- Training aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teaching Standards
- Gain classroom experience with structured support and mentoring
- Training delivered outside teaching hours to maximise school experience
Phase Two (QTS & PGCE):
- Progress to independent teaching with your own timetable
- Complete a PGCE with Coventry University
- Achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Teach up to a full timetable while continuing professional development
This programme typically lasts 1–2 years, providing a comprehensive and supportive route into teaching .
