Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Food Technology opportunity at a secondary school in Kings Langley.
This salaried role allows you to begin your journey as a Phase One trainee, gaining hands-on classroom experience while studying for your Level 4 qualification, with a clear pathway to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning across Food Technology and related subjects
- Assist in delivering engaging lessons focused on nutrition, cooking skills and food science
- Help prepare and manage practical lessons in a well-equipped food technology classroom
- Support students in developing safe, hygienic and creative cooking practices
- Contribute to lesson planning, preparation and assessment
- Build strong classroom management skills through guided teaching practice
This role is ideal for a graduate who wants to earn while they train, contribute meaningfully from day one, and develop into a confident and inspiring Food Technology teacher.
About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, aspiring teacher, or someone with a background in food, nutrition or hospitality who is passionate about education.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring Food Technology teacher / graduate trainee
- Has a degree or strong interest in Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality or a related field
- Is enthusiastic, creative and eager to inspire students through practical learning
- Demonstrates commitment to high standards, teamwork and whole-school values
- Can build positive relationships with young people and engage them in learning
- Has an interest in promoting healthy lifestyles and life skills
- Wants to develop their teaching practice through high-quality mentoring and training
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers' Standards
- Learn through guided practice, observations, professional learning sessions and in-school experience
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Independent teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours a week)
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured progression ensures you gain the skills, confidence and accreditation needed to begin your career as a fully qualified teacher.
