Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Primary Education opportunity at a supportive partner primary school in Bedford, Bedfordshire. This salaried Phase One position provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on school experience while studying towards your Level 4 qualification, with a clear progression route into Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

You will become part of a welcoming school community, working alongside experienced teachers and support staff while developing the practical skills and confidence needed to become an effective classroom teacher.

You will receive ongoing support and mentoring as you develop your classroom practice through observation, guided practice and increasing responsibility.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning across the primary phase
  • Work with pupils individually, in small groups and as part of whole-class activities
  • Assist with lesson preparation, resources and classroom organisation
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development
  • Help create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment
  • Develop your understanding of assessment and pupil progress
  • Observe experienced teachers and learn effective teaching strategies
  • Develop your behaviour management and classroom skills
  • Take on increasing responsibility as your confidence and competence develop
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school

About You – Candidate Profile

Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, tutoring, coaching or youth setting would be advantageous.

Training & Progression with Grad2Teach

This role follows Grad2Teach's fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model.

Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training

  • Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
  • Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers' Standards
  • Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, mentoring and professional learning sessions
  • Develop your classroom management and teaching skills through practical experience
  • Receive ongoing support from experienced teachers and Grad2Teach mentors
  • Build your confidence and take on increasing responsibility as you progress

Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)

Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:

  • Teaching responsibility of up to 18 hours per week
  • Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
  • Ongoing mentoring, assessment and professional development
  • Development towards meeting all Teachers' Standards

This structured pathway provides a clear route from Phase One trainee to fully qualified Primary teacher.
