About the Role
Are you a confident and classroom-ready aspiring English teacher looking for a salaried route into teaching? Ralph Sadleir Middle School in Hertfordshire is seeking a teach-ready Trainee English Teacher to join their team through the Grad2Teach programme.
This opportunity is perfect for someone prepared to step into substantial classroom responsibility from the outset. In Phase One, you will support the English department, deliver lessons under guidance, take responsibility for groups and classes, and build the professional evidence required for a smooth and timely transition into Phase Two.
As part of the programme, you will complete a Level 4 NCFE customised qualification outside teaching hours—ensuring you can focus your in-school time on developing strong, practical teaching skills. Once you progress to Phase Two, you will take on your own English timetable (up to 18 hours per week) while completing your PGCE with QTS through Coventry University.

About You
This role is suited to a candidate who is:

Already classroom confident and comfortable leading lessons

A graduate in English, Literature, Creative Writing, Journalism, or a related subject

A motivated and reflective practitioner with potential to accelerate into Phase Two

Passionate about inspiring students through language and literature

Prepared to build a teaching timetable and take ownership of pupil progress

Ready to engage with professional learning linked to the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework (CCF)

Eager to complete the Level 4 qualification and progress to full ITT
You may already have experience such as tutoring, HLTA work, ECT preparation, or unqualified teaching—anything that makes you “teach-ready.”
