About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme
As part of the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme, this PE Graduate Assistant role offers a perfect entry point into teaching. You’ll work closely with experienced staff to support PE lessons, extracurricular sport, and wider school life—while progressing towards a recognised teaching qualification.
You will:

Join a two-phase training programme tailored to build skills and confidence

Work towards a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University

Receive a salary while you train, with no tuition fees upfront

Be mentored by experienced teachers in a supportive and collaborative setting

Take part in a blended training programme aligned with the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework
Phase 1: Focus on shadowing, supporting PE delivery, and working with small groups.
Phase 2: Gradually transition to delivering lessons and managing your own teaching timetable (up to 18 hours per week).
This is an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful experience while training to become a qualified PE teacher.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for individuals who:

Hold a degree (preferably in Sport, Physical Education, or a related field)

Have a passion for sport, physical development, and education

Are confident, enthusiastic, and ready to contribute to school life

Have GCSEs in English and Maths (some flexibility is available during Phase 1)
