About the Role

A Specialist SEND School in East London

This placement is based in a dedicated special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) school. The school supports young people aged 11–16 with complex learning needs, providing a highly personalised and inclusive learning environment.

With a strong focus on care, communication, and consistency, the school’s ethos is built on the belief that all pupils should feel safe, respected, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Staff work collaboratively with families and therapists to support both academic progress and personal development. The school offers specialist approaches including sensory integration, structured routines, and tailored pastoral support—making it a nurturing and inspiring place to train as a teacher.

About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme

This Graduate Trainee SEND Teacher role is part of the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme, which provides classroom-based experience alongside academic study to qualify as a teacher.

With Grad2Teach, you will:

  • Begin in a Graduate Teaching Assistant role, supporting small groups and individual pupils

  • Progress through a two-phase programme that builds confidence and teaching ability

  • Complete a PGCE with QTS awarded by Coventry University

  • Earn a salary throughout the programme—no upfront tuition fees

  • Be supported by mentors, peer networks, and a blended training model aligned to the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework

Phase 1: Focus on classroom support and developing core teaching strategies in a SEND setting
Phase 2: Take on independent teaching responsibilities (up to 18 hours per week) while completing PGCE coursework

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to specialise in inclusive education and gain practical experience in a specialist school environment.

Candidate Requirements

We’re looking for committed individuals who:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in any subject

  • Have a genuine passion for SEND education and supporting vulnerable learners

  • Are adaptable, patient, and eager to grow professionally

  • Ideally hold GCSEs in English and Maths (some flexibility during Phase 1 may apply)

Whether you’re a recent graduate or looking for a meaningful career change, this is your chance to make a lasting impact through a supported, salaried route into teaching.
