About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme

This Graduate Trainee Science Teacher position is part of the Grad2Teach salaried teacher training programme – a school-based route into teaching designed to support you from classroom assistant to qualified teacher.

You will:

  • Begin as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, supporting Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Progress through a structured two-phase training model, developing classroom skills and subject knowledge

  • Work towards a PGCE with QTS, awarded by Coventry University

  • Earn a salary throughout your training with no tuition fees

  • Receive expert mentoring, coaching, and access to a blended curriculum aligned with the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework

Phase 1:

  • Support lesson planning and delivery

  • Provide targeted academic support and interventions

  • Develop behaviour management and teaching strategies

Phase 2:

  • Independently teach up to 18 hours per week

  • Complete PGCE assignments and assessments

  • Take full responsibility for classes with support from experienced mentors

This is an ideal pathway for aspiring Science teachers who want a practical, supported, and rewarding route into education.


Candidate Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you should:

  • Hold a UK bachelor’s degree – ideally in a Science-related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics)

  • Be passionate about Science and eager to inspire the next generation of learners

  • Demonstrate commitment, resilience, and a willingness to grow professionally
