Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Physical Education (PE) opportunity at a supportive secondary school in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. This salaried Phase One position provides the opportunity to gain valuable classroom and practical teaching experience while studying towards your Level 4 qualification, with a clear pathway to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning within the PE department across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assist in delivering engaging lessons across a wide range of sports and physical activities
- Help organise equipment, resources, fixtures and extracurricular programmes
- Support students in developing physical skills, confidence and sportsmanship
- Work alongside experienced teachers and coaches to develop your teaching practice
- Contribute to sports clubs, competitions, tournaments and whole-school events
- Gain increasing teaching responsibility as your skills and confidence grow

About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, sports coach, teaching assistant or aspiring educator with a passion for Physical Education and youth development. We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring PE teacher / graduate trainee
- Holds (or is working towards) a degree in Sport, Physical Education, Sports Science or a related field
- Has a strong interest in promoting sport, fitness and wellbeing
- Is enthusiastic, energetic and eager to develop into an outstanding teacher
- Demonstrates strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Is committed to high standards, inclusion and student achievement
- Is keen to develop through mentoring, coaching and professional training
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model.
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Learn through classroom experience, observations, mentoring and professional studies sessions
- Develop practical teaching skills through guided practice and increasing responsibility
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Teaching responsibility of up to 18 hours per week
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and professional development
- Support towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured pathway provides the knowledge, experience and qualifications needed to become a fully qualified PE teacher.
