About the Role

Are you an experienced educator with a strong background in teaching and a passion for Business and Economics? Are you ready to take the next step in your career and work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through an accelerated training route?

Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Trainee Business and Economics Teacher opportunity at a partner school in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. This role is designed for a confident, teach-ready candidate who already has substantial teaching experience and is ready to progress towards formal teacher qualification.

Unlike a traditional entry-level training position, this opportunity is aimed at someone who can bring proven classroom experience, confidently manage pupils and deliver effective lessons from the outset. You will build on your existing skills while receiving structured guidance, mentoring and professional support to help you work towards QTS.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching Business Studies and Economics across the relevant secondary age groups

  • Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons

  • Making complex business and economic concepts accessible to pupils

  • Developing pupils’ analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills

  • Managing classroom behaviour confidently and maintaining high expectations

  • Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet different learning needs

  • Preparing learning resources, assignments and assessment activities

  • Supporting pupils with examination preparation and revision

  • Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning

  • Engaging with mentoring, observation and feedback to refine your practice

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced candidate who is already confident in the classroom and looking for a focused, fast-track route towards becoming a qualified teacher.

About You – Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly capable and motivated candidate with substantial previous teaching experience and the confidence to take responsibility for classroom learning.

You should have:

  • Significant experience teaching or working in an educational setting – essential

  • Experience planning and delivering lessons independently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Business, Economics or both

  • The confidence to manage a classroom and establish positive learning routines

  • Experience assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching accordingly

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues

  • Strong organisation, preparation and time-management skills

  • A reflective approach and a willingness to engage with professional development

  • High expectations of pupil achievement, behaviour and engagement

  • The commitment to complete the required training and assessment towards QTS

Experience teaching Business Studies and/or Economics at secondary level, particularly at GCSE or A-level, would be highly advantageous.

This position is best suited to someone who has already developed strong teaching skills and is now looking for a fast-track professional pathway to QTS, rather than someone seeking their first experience in a classroom.
