Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Physical Education (PE) opportunity at a supportive secondary school in Luton, Bedfordshire. This salaried role allows you to begin your journey as a Phase One trainee, gaining valuable classroom and practical teaching experience while studying towards your Level 4 qualification, with a structured pathway to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning within the PE department across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assist in delivering engaging practical lessons across a range of sports and physical activities
- Help organise equipment, resources, fixtures and extracurricular sporting activities
- Support students in developing teamwork, resilience, fitness and confidence
- Work closely with experienced teachers to develop your classroom and coaching practice
- Contribute to enrichment opportunities including clubs, competitions and sports events
This role is ideal for a graduate who wants to earn while they train, gain meaningful school-based experience, and develop into an excellent secondary PE teacher.
About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, sports coach, teaching assistant or aspiring educator with a passion for Physical Education and youth development. We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring PE teacher / graduate trainee
- Holds (or is working towards) a degree in Sport, Physical Education or a related field
- Has a strong interest in sports participation, fitness and student wellbeing
- Is enthusiastic, reflective and eager to grow into an excellent teacher
- Demonstrates strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Is committed to high standards, whole-school values and professional development
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, mentoring and professional learning sessions
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Increased teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
