About the Role

In this graduate teaching role, you will work alongside experienced History teachers, supporting lessons across the humanities curriculum and gaining hands-on classroom experience. You will be employed in school while completing Grad2Teach’s Level 4 qualification, providing a structured and supportive route into the teaching profession.

As a trainee teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting History teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Assisting with lesson delivery, classroom management, and student engagement

  • Developing subject knowledge in History and related humanities subjects

  • Working closely with mentors as part of a salaried teacher training route

  • Preparing for progression into Phase Two and a PGCE pathway

This role is ideal for aspiring History teachers who want to learn on the job while earning a salary.

About You / Candidate Profile

We are seeking a committed aspiring teacher, trainee educator, or future History teacher who is passionate about education and keen to inspire young people.

You will:

  • Hold (or be working towards) a degree in History or a closely related subject

  • Be enthusiastic about becoming a qualified History teacher

  • Be reliable, reflective, and eager to develop professionally

  • Enjoy working with secondary-aged students

  • Be motivated to succeed on a structured teacher training programme

Previous experience in schools, tutoring, or youth work is beneficial but not essential. A strong commitment to teaching and learning is key.

Training & Progression

  • You will complete Phase One, working towards a Level 4 qualification with Grad2Teach

  • Training is aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and national Teaching Standards

  • You will receive ongoing mentoring, observations, and professional development

  • Successful completion of Phase One leads to Phase Two, where you move into independent teaching

  • Phase Two includes a PGCE route with Coventry University, supporting you to achieve Qualified Teacher Status
