Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Engineering opportunity at a forward-thinking secondary school in Luton, Bedfordshire. This salaried Phase One position provides an excellent opportunity to begin your teaching career while gaining hands-on classroom experience and studying towards your Level 4 qualification, with a clear progression route into Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning within Engineering, Design & Technology and related technical subjects
- Assist with practical workshops, projects and engineering-based learning activities
- Help students develop problem-solving, design and analytical skills
- Support the preparation and maintenance of specialist equipment and learning resources
- Work closely with experienced teachers and mentors to develop your classroom practice
- Contribute to STEM activities, enrichment programmes and employer engagement opportunities
- Gain increasing teaching responsibility as your confidence and experience develop

About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, apprentice, technician or engineering professional looking to move into teaching. We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring Engineering teacher / graduate trainee
- Holds (or is working towards) a degree, HND, apprenticeship qualification or equivalent in Engineering or a related technical field
- Has a passion for engineering, innovation and STEM education
- Is enthusiastic, reflective and eager to develop into an outstanding teacher
- Can explain technical concepts clearly and engage young people in learning
- Demonstrates strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Is committed to high standards, professional development and student achievement

Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model.
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, mentoring and professional learning sessions
- Develop classroom confidence through supported teaching opportunities
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Teaching responsibility of up to 18 hours per week
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and instructional coaching
- Development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured pathway ensures you gain the qualifications, skills and experience needed to become a fully qualified secondary Engineering teacher.
