Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Art opportunity at a thriving secondary school in Brent, London. This salaried Phase One position combines the practical responsibilities of an Art Technician with the opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience as you begin your journey towards becoming a qualified Art teacher.
Working within a vibrant Art department, you will support the delivery of engaging and creative lessons while studying towards your Level 4 qualification. Successful trainees will have a clear progression route into Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning within the Art department across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Prepare, organise and maintain art materials, equipment and studio spaces
- Assist teachers in delivering practical lessons and creative projects
- Support students during workshops, coursework and portfolio development
- Create displays that celebrate student achievement and enhance the learning environment
- Ensure resources and equipment are maintained safely and effectively
- Gain classroom experience and develop your teaching practice through mentoring and training

About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, practising artist, designer, Art Technician or aspiring educator with a passion for creativity and education. We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring Art teacher / graduate trainee
- Holds (or is working towards) a degree in Art, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Textiles or a related creative subject
- Has a strong interest in secondary Art education
- Is enthusiastic, creative and eager to develop into an excellent teacher
- Demonstrates strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Is committed to promoting creativity, inclusion and high achievement
- Wants to develop their teaching practice through mentoring and professional training
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model.
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, mentoring and professional learning sessions
- Develop classroom confidence and teaching skills through increasing involvement in lessons
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Teaching responsibility of up to 18 hours per week
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and instructional coaching
- Development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured pathway ensures you gain the experience, confidence and qualifications needed to begin your career as a fully qualified Art teacher.
