About the Role

A High-Achieving Independent Girls’ School in North London

This opportunity is based at a prestigious and academically successful independent day school for girls, located in North London. With a strong sense of community and a commitment to fostering independent thinking, this school is known for combining academic excellence with a progressive and inclusive ethos.

Physical Education is highly valued across the school community, and sport plays an essential role in developing students’ confidence, teamwork, and resilience. The school boasts excellent sports facilities and a wide-ranging co-curricular programme that includes team games, athletics, swimming, dance, and outdoor education. Staff foster an environment where girls are encouraged to strive for personal bests and enjoy physical activity, regardless of ability level.

This is an ideal setting for a PE graduate eager to support, motivate, and grow into a confident teacher within a well-resourced, supportive educational environment.

About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme

As part of the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme, this PE Graduate Assistant role offers a perfect entry point into teaching. You’ll work closely with experienced staff to support PE lessons, extracurricular sport, and wider school life—while progressing towards a recognised teaching qualification.

You will:

  • Join a two-phase training programme tailored to build skills and confidence

  • Work towards a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University

  • Receive a salary while you train, with no tuition fees upfront

  • Be mentored by experienced teachers in a supportive and collaborative setting

  • Take part in a blended training programme aligned with the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework

Phase 1: Focus on shadowing, supporting PE delivery, and working with small groups.
Phase 2: Gradually transition to delivering lessons and managing your own teaching timetable (up to 18 hours per week).

This is an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful experience while training to become a qualified PE teacher.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Hold a degree (preferably in Sport, Physical Education, or a related field)

  • Have a passion for sport, physical development, and education

  • Are confident, enthusiastic, and ready to contribute to school life

  • Have GCSEs in English and Maths (some flexibility is available during Phase 1)

  • Are committed, reflective, and excited about a future in teaching

Whether you're a recent graduate or exploring a career in education, this is your chance to make an impact and train through a salaried route.
