English Trainee Teacher – Assessment Only Route (AOR) | KS3 & KS4
Do you already have significant teaching experience but lack QTS? Ready to formalise your classroom expertise and gain full qualification without stepping away from your current teaching timetable?
This Assessment Only Route (AOR) placement offers the perfect solution for experienced English educators. Based at a busy and committed secondary school in Hayes, West London, this role involves a heavy Key Stage 3 and 4 English timetable – ideal for candidates confident in lesson planning, behaviour management, and subject delivery.
The AOR is not a training route – it's for candidates who already meet the Teachers' Standards and need a formal assessment period (typically 12 weeks) to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Who should apply?
This opportunity is ideal for:
-
Unqualified teachers currently working in schools
-
Overseas-trained teachers with experience but no UK QTS
-
Cover supervisors, instructors, or tutors with sustained classroom responsibility
What you need:
- Full degree and GCSE English & Maths
- Substantial recent experience teaching English in UK schools
- Evidence of meeting the Teachers’ Standards
- Confidence teaching KS3 and KS4 English independently
As a Grad2Teach AOR candidate, you’ll be supported through the assessment window with guidance from a qualified mentor and our partnership team.
