Niamh's career has revolved around supporting young people, prompting her decision to apply to the Grad2Teach program as the next step in becoming a primary school teacher. Her motivation stems from a desire to learn reciprocally with her students. Having worked internationally, from the United States to Germany, she values diverse experiences and aims to bring this richness to both students and staff. Niamh sees primary education as a crucial stage for nurturing curiosity and inclusivity, drawing from her own early encounters with concepts like feminism and inclusivity. Her work, grounded in an inclusive philosophy, emphasises the importance of diversity in shaping young students' value systems. Engaged in Berlin Brandenburg International School's Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism group, she actively contributes to creating a more inclusive educational environment. Niamh envisions her role as a teacher to provide a safe space where students feel a sense of belonging while fostering curiosity and celebrating diversity. Meet Alex Dunk, a 28-year-old educator with over 5 years of experience in the field of education. Currently employed as a Teaching Assistant at a SEND/SEMH school in the UK, Alex has spent the past year and a half honing his teaching skills in the subject of Mathematics. During this time, he's not only assisted the teacher in classroom activities but has also taken on the role of teaching specific students, both within and outside the school premises, owing to the unique needs of their pupils. Alex's passion for teaching has led him to pursue a PGCE (or similar QTS qualifications) to formalise his career in education. Alex's deep-rooted love for Mathematics is evident, as he finds immense joy in solving mathematical problems and takes pride in helping struggling students comprehend complex concepts. One standout moment was when he creatively associated letters with everyday objects during an Algebra lesson, unlocking a student's interest and transforming their attitude towards the subject. These transformative experiences fuel Alex's desire to become a fully-fledged educator, and he believes that Grad2Teach is the ideal avenue to support his journey towards obtaining teaching qualifications while maintaining his passion for education and helping young minds thrive.
