About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive secondary school in Ixworth, Suffolk (near Bury St Edmunds) as a Cover Supervisor, while also taking your first step towards qualified teacher status through Grad2Teach.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school by supervising classes during teacher absence and supporting pupils to remain engaged in their learning. Alongside this, you will be well-placed to begin a structured, salaried teacher training journey with Grad2Teach.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects

  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Supporting pupils with their learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment

  • Assisting with exams, interventions, classroom support, displays, and wider school activities

This salaried, permanent role (term-time plus one week) is ideal for graduates or career changers who want meaningful classroom experience while preparing for teacher training.

About You | Candidate Profile

This role is particularly suited to:

  • Graduates or aspiring teachers exploring a career in secondary education

  • Individuals with experience working with young people or in school settings

  • Confident, reliable, and adaptable professionals

  • Future teachers ready to learn, develop, and take on increasing responsibility

You don’t need to be a qualified teacher — just a genuine passion for education and the motivation to progress into teacher training.

Training & Progression with Grad2Teach

This role offers a clear progression route into salaried teacher training with Grad2Teach.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Begin Phase One of the Grad2Teach programme while working in school

  • Complete a Level 4 qualification, aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teaching Standards

  • Progress into Phase Two, leading to independent teaching and a PGCE with Coventry University

This pathway allows you to earn while you train, gain real classroom experience, and move confidently towards qualified teacher status.
