About the Role

Are you a graduate or aspiring teacher ready to begin a salaried teacher training programme in a supportive primary school in Slough, Berkshire?

Grad2Teach is offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Primary Teacher to join a welcoming and diverse primary academy in Slough. This is a structured, paid route into teaching, designed to help you gain classroom experience while working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

About the Role

This Trainee Primary Teacher position is ideal for a graduate, career changer, or experienced support staff member looking for a graduate teaching role with clear progression.

As a trainee teacher in this Slough primary school, you will:

  • Teach across the primary age range (EYFS, KS1 or KS2 depending on experience)

  • Develop lesson planning, behaviour management, and pupil progress

  • Gradually increase your classroom responsibility

  • Gain practical, hands-on experience in a real school environment

  • Complete a Level 4 NCFE qualification as part of Phase One

You will be employed in school from day one, earning a salary while training. During Phase One, your training takes place outside of contact time, allowing you to build confidence without the pressure of a full timetable.

This is a long-term pathway into teaching, not just a short-term teaching assistant role. Successful trainees progress into Phase Two, working towards a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University.

About You – Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated and reflective graduate trainee, aspiring teacher, or trainee educator who:

  • Holds a degree (or is due to graduate)

  • Has GCSEs in English, Science and Maths (or is willing to work towards required qualifications)

  • Has experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable)

  • Demonstrates strong communication and organisational skills

  • Is committed, reliable, and eager to develop professionally

  • Is passionate about making a difference in primary education

Whether you are a recent graduate, a career changer, or a support staff member ready to step up, this salaried teacher training route in Slough, Berkshire provides a structured and supportive pathway into the profession.

Training & Progression – Your Route to QTS

Phase One – Level 4 Qualification

In Phase One, you will complete an NCFE Level 4 Customised Qualification, such as:

  • Level 4 Award in Teaching Fundamentals

  • Level 4 Certificate in Applied Teaching Techniques

  • Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Pre-ITT Practice

Your training is:

  • Mapped to the Core Content Framework (CCF)

  • Aligned with the Teachers’ Standards

  • Delivered alongside salaried, in-school experience

  • Supported by mentoring and regular observations

This phase builds your classroom confidence and prepares you for formal Initial Teacher Training.

Phase Two – PGCE with QTS

Once ready, you will progress to Phase Two:

  • Teach independently on a structured timetable

  • Complete a PGCE with QTS (60 Master’s credits) through Coventry University

  • Attend Intensive Training and Practice (ITAP) sessions

  • Undertake a contrasting school placement (minimum three weeks)

By the end of the programme, you will achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and be fully prepared for a long-term teaching career.
