About the Role

A Warm and Supportive Primary School in Hertfordshire

This opportunity is based at a friendly and inclusive primary school in Hertfordshire, known for its strong community values and commitment to developing the whole child. The school provides education for children from Reception through to Key Stage 2 and places a strong emphasis on nurturing confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Set in a leafy residential area, the school promotes values such as respect, kindness, and responsibility, and encourages pupils to achieve their full potential both academically and personally. With a creative and broad curriculum, strong parental partnerships, and an emphasis on pupil wellbeing, this school offers an ideal environment for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to begin their teacher training journey.

About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll support class teachers, work with small groups of pupils, and assist across the curriculum—all while preparing to step into the role of a qualified primary teacher through the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme.

With Grad2Teach, you will:

  • Begin with a Graduate TA role, learning the foundations of classroom practice

  • Progress through a two-phase training model designed to support and develop you

  • Earn a PGCE with QTS through our university partner, Coventry University

  • Receive a salary while training, with no upfront tuition fees

  • Be supported by experienced mentors and a blended training programme aligned to the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework

Phase 1: Focus on classroom support, guided practice, and training sessions.
Phase 2: Take on increased teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours/week) while completing PGCE requirements.

This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your primary teaching career in a school that values both academic progress and the development of character and community.

Candidate Requirements

We’re looking for individuals who:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (any subject)

  • Are committed to a career in primary education

  • Are nurturing, proactive, and ready to make a difference

  • Have GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science (some flexibility is available in Phase 1)

If you’re a graduate who’s passionate about working with children and ready to take the first step into teaching, this role is the perfect pathway to QTS.
