About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to progress into a secondary trainee teacher role through the Grad2Teach salaried teacher training programme.

Based in a supportive secondary school in Norfolk, this role allows you to continue working in the classroom while training to become a qualified secondary teacher. As a Secondary HLTA and trainee teacher, you will support learning, deliver small group and whole-class teaching, and gradually increase your teaching responsibility as you develop your practice.

You will complete Phase One of the Grad2Teach programme, working towards a Level 4 qualification, before progressing into Phase Two, where you will teach independently while completing a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

This is a structured, salaried route designed for experienced support staff who are ready to take the next step into teaching.

About You | Candidate Profile

This role is ideal for an experienced HLTA, aspiring secondary teacher, or future teacher who:

  • Has experience working in a secondary school environment

  • Is passionate about their subject area and supporting young people

  • Is reliable, reflective, and eager to develop their teaching practice

  • Is ready to train through a paid teacher training programme

  • Wants a clear progression route into qualified secondary teaching

Graduates and experienced support staff are strongly encouraged to apply.

Training & Progression

With Grad2Teach, your training is fully embedded in your school role:

  • Phase One: Salaried classroom role with structured training and a Level 4 qualification

  • Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards

  • Regular mentoring, observations, and professional development

  • Phase Two: Progression into independent teaching while completing a PGCE with Coventry University

  • Achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and begin your ECT journey
