About the Role

Are you a Science graduate looking to begin a rewarding career in teaching? Or perhaps you're a career changer with a strong scientific background and a passion for inspiring young people?

Grad2Teach is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Science Teacher to join a secondary school in Northampton, Northamptonshire, through our structured, salaried teacher training programme.

This exciting opportunity allows you to earn while you learn, gaining valuable classroom experience while working towards becoming a fully qualified Secondary Science Teacher.

During Phase One, you will work alongside experienced teaching professionals, developing your classroom confidence, subject knowledge and practical teaching skills while completing an accredited NCFE Level 4 qualification.

As your confidence and experience grow, you will have the opportunity to progress into Phase Two, completing a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through our university partner, Coventry University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Assist with practical Science activities, experiments and classroom demonstrations.

  • Develop your knowledge of the secondary Science curriculum, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

  • Work alongside experienced Science teachers to develop lesson planning, assessment and classroom management skills.

  • Support pupils of varying abilities, helping them build scientific understanding and confidence.

  • Gradually take on additional teaching responsibilities as your skills develop.

  • Participate in Grad2Teach's structured training programme and professional development activities.

About You

We are looking for an aspiring Science Teacher who is enthusiastic about education and committed to making a positive difference in the classroom.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Science or a closely related subject, ideally Biology, Chemistry, Physics or a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.

  • The ability to build professional relationships with pupils and colleagues.

  • Good organisational skills, reliability and adaptability.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people's development.

Previous classroom experience is beneficial but not essential. We welcome applications from recent graduates, experienced teaching assistants and professionals considering a career change into teaching.
