Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Primary Teacher (Phase 1) opportunity in a supportive primary school in Hertfordshire.
This salaried role allows you to begin your journey as a Phase One trainee, gaining hands-on classroom experience while working towards your Level 4 qualification, with a clear pathway to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.
You will work closely with experienced teachers and mentors, developing your confidence and skills in a nurturing environment that values professional growth and high-quality education.
As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning across the primary phase (EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2)
- Deliver small group interventions and targeted pupil support
- Assist with lesson planning, preparation and classroom organisation
- Begin to lead parts of lessons as your confidence develops
- Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
- Contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment
This role is ideal for someone who wants to earn while they train, gain meaningful classroom experience from day one, and build a long-term career in primary education.
About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, teaching assistant, tutor or aspiring educator with a passion for working with children.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring primary teacher / graduate trainee
- Holds a degree (any subject considered)
- Has some experience working with children (school, tutoring, coaching or similar)
- Is enthusiastic, patient and committed to helping children succeed
- Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is reflective and eager to develop into an excellent teacher
- Wants to benefit from structured training and mentoring
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers' Standards
- Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, professional learning sessions and in-school experience
- Gradually increase your teaching responsibilities
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Independent teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured pathway ensures you gain the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to become a fully qualified primary teacher.
