Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Trainee Primary Teacher – Early Years HLTA opportunity at a welcoming and supportive primary setting in Rickmansworth (WD3). This is a fully salaried training role, allowing you to earn while you learn, gaining invaluable classroom experience as you work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
As a Phase One trainee, you will work closely with experienced teachers in Early Years and Key Stage 1, supporting learning, development and wellbeing while completing your Level 4 qualification. This role provides a clear and structured pathway into Phase Two, where you could progress to a PGCE with QTS.

As a trainee, you will support teaching and learning across the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping children develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning. You will play an active role in classroom activities, phonics, early literacy, numeracy and play-based learning.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact from day one, while training in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
About You – Candidate Profile
This role would suit a recent graduate, HLTA, teaching assistant or aspiring teacher with a strong interest in Early Years education. We are looking for someone who:

Is an enthusiastic aspiring Primary Teacher (Early Years focus)

Holds a degree (or is working towards one) in Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject

Has a genuine passion for working with young children

Is reflective, proactive and eager to develop as a teacher

Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills

Can build positive, nurturing relationships with pupils

Is committed to high standards, safeguarding and whole-school values
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training pathway:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training

Complete a customised Level 4 NCFE qualification while working in school

Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards

Learn through guided practice, observations, professional studies and in-school experience

Develop confidence supporting learning before taking on teaching responsibility
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression:

Increased teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)

Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE partnership)

Continued mentoring, assessment and professional development
