Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Physics opportunity at a supportive secondary school in Harrow, London. This salaried role allows you to begin your journey as a Phase One trainee, gaining valuable classroom experience while studying towards your Level 4 qualification, with a structured pathway to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.
The school is committed to academic excellence, inclusive learning and high-quality Science education. You will join a collaborative Science department dedicated to helping students develop curiosity, analytical thinking and confidence in Physics.
As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning within the Physics department across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assist with practical investigations, demonstrations and classroom activities
- Help prepare resources and maintain a safe laboratory environment
- Work closely with experienced teachers to develop your teaching practice
- Support students in developing scientific understanding and problem-solving skills
- Contribute to STEM enrichment opportunities, clubs and wider school activities
This role is ideal for a graduate who wants to earn while they train, gain meaningful classroom experience, and develop into an outstanding secondary Physics teacher.
About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, tutor, science technician or aspiring educator with a passion for Physics and education. We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring Physics teacher / graduate trainee
- Holds (or is working towards) a degree in Physics or a related subject
- Has a strong interest in Science and STEM education
- Is enthusiastic, reflective and eager to grow into an excellent teacher
- Demonstrates strong communication and organisational skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Is committed to high standards, teamwork and continuous professional development
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, mentoring and professional learning sessions
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Increased teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured programme ensures you gain the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to begin your career as a fully qualified Physics teacher.
