Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Physical Education (PE) opportunity at a supportive secondary school in Chichester, West Sussex. This salaried Phase One position allows you to gain valuable school-based experience while studying towards your Level 4 qualification, with a clear and structured pathway to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning within the PE department across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assist with planning and delivering engaging practical PE lessons
- Support students across a range of sports and physical activities
- Help organise and supervise fixtures, tournaments and extra-curricular clubs
- Encourage participation, teamwork and positive attitudes towards sport and fitness
- Work closely with experienced staff to develop your teaching practice and classroom confidence
This role is ideal for a graduate who wants to earn while they train, gain hands-on experience from day one, and develop into an inspiring secondary PE teacher.
About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, sports coach, fitness professional or aspiring educator with a passion for Physical Education and youth development. We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring PE teacher / graduate trainee
- Holds (or is working towards) a degree in Sport, PE or a related subject
- Has a genuine enthusiasm for sport, physical activity and student wellbeing
- Is energetic, reflective and eager to grow into an excellent teacher
- Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Is committed to high standards, inclusion and professional development
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Learn through guided practice, lesson observations, mentoring and professional learning sessions
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Increased teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and professional development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
