About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to begin your journey as a Graduate Trainee Music Teacher in a supportive secondary school in Ipswich, Suffolk.
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will join a structured, salaried teacher training programme with Grad2Teach, gaining hands-on classroom experience while working towards a Level 4 qualification.
You will:
- Support Music lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assist with practical and theory-based teaching, including performance and composition
- Work alongside experienced teachers to develop your classroom practice
- Gradually build confidence delivering small group and whole-class activities
This graduate teaching role is ideal for aspiring Music teachers looking for a paid route into teaching, with clear progression into a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
About You
We are looking for a passionate and motivated aspiring teacher who:
- Holds a degree in Music or a related subject (or has strong relevant experience)
- Has GCSEs in Mathematics and English at least C/4 or above
- Has a genuine enthusiasm for music education and inspiring young people
- Is reliable, proactive, and eager to learn
- Demonstrates strong communication and organisational skills
- Is interested in a long-term career in teaching

Training & Progression
Grad2Teach offers a clear, structured pathway into teaching:
Phase One (Level 4 Qualification):
- Gain a NCFE-accredited Level 4 qualification
- Training aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teaching Standards
- Classroom experience without the pressure of a full timetable
Phase Two (PGCE with QTS):
- Progress to a PGCE with Coventry University
- Teach independently with a structured timetable
- Achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and 60 Master’s credits
This two-phase salaried teacher training programme allows you to earn while you train and develop into a confident, qualified Music teacher.
