Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Mathematics opportunity at a supportive secondary school in Hackney, London. This salaried Phase One position is designed for candidates who have already gained classroom experience and are ready to take on some teaching responsibility while working towards becoming a qualified teacher.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to build on your existing skills, delivering lessons and supporting pupils' progress while studying towards your Level 4 qualification. Successful trainees will have a clear progression route into Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning across the Mathematics department
- Deliver planned lessons and cover classes when required
- Assist with lesson preparation, assessment and pupil progress tracking
- Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in developing mathematical understanding and confidence
- Work closely with experienced teachers and mentors to refine your teaching practice
- Contribute to intervention programmes, revision sessions and enrichment activities
- Develop your classroom management and teaching skills through practical experience and training
This role is ideal for someone who is ready to move beyond support work and begin developing as a classroom teacher within a structured training programme.
About You – Candidate Profile
We are seeking ambitious candidates who already have experience working with young people in educational settings and are ready to begin their teacher training journey.
You will:
- Be an aspiring Mathematics teacher with a passion for education
- Hold a degree in Mathematics or a related subject, or be on track to complete one
- Have experience covering classes or delivering learning in a secondary school environment
- Be confident leading groups of students and maintaining positive behaviour for learning
- Have strong subject knowledge and a commitment to helping students succeed
- Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
- Be reflective, resilient and eager to develop professionally
- Be committed to high standards and continuous improvement
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model.
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Develop your teaching skills through practical classroom experience
- Receive mentoring, coaching and developmental observations
- Access training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Take on increasing teaching responsibility as you progress
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Teaching responsibility of up to 18 hours per week
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and instructional coaching
- Development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured pathway enables you to gain the knowledge, experience and qualifications needed to become a fully qualified Mathematics teacher.
