Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – French opportunity at a partner secondary school in Weybridge.
This is a Phase One salaried position where you will be teaching from the start. The role is suited to someone who already has experience working in a school or teaching environment and is ready to develop their practice while working towards a formal teaching qualification.
You will work closely with experienced teachers and receive regular mentoring and support, while taking responsibility for teaching French lessons from the beginning of your training.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching French from the start of Phase One
- Planning and delivering engaging French lessons
- Teaching pupils across the secondary age range
- Developing pupils' speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence and accuracy in French
- Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining high expectations
- Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching accordingly
- Preparing effective lesson resources and learning activities
- Working with experienced teachers to develop your planning and teaching
- Supporting intervention, revision and enrichment activities
- Reflecting on your teaching and responding positively to feedback
- Taking on increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence develop
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school-based candidate who is ready to teach immediately while receiving structured training and mentoring to develop into a highly effective French Teacher.
About You – Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a confident French speaker and writer with previous experience of teaching or working within a school environment.
You should have:
- Previous experience teaching or working in a school – essential
- Excellent spoken and written French
- Strong French subject knowledge
- The confidence to teach French from the beginning of Phase One
- A genuine passion for languages and education
- Experience working with young people
- Strong classroom communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to establish positive relationships with pupils
- A confident and professional approach to classroom management
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- A willingness to learn, reflect and respond to feedback
- High expectations of yourself and your pupils
- The resilience and commitment required to develop as a teacher
Experience of planning and delivering lessons would be particularly advantageous, as you will be expected to take responsibility for teaching from the outset.
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
Phase One – Teaching & Level 4 Training
During Phase One, you will teach French from the beginning of your placement while completing a Level 4 NCFE customised qualification.
You will receive structured support alongside your teaching responsibilities, including:
- Training aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
- Regular observations and feedback on your teaching
- Dedicated mentoring and professional learning
- Support with lesson planning, assessment and classroom management
- Development of effective teaching and questioning strategies
- Opportunities to observe experienced teachers
- Support to reflect on and improve your classroom practice
- Increasing responsibility as your confidence and competence develop
Successful completion of Phase One provides a clear progression route into Phase Two, where you can work towards your PGCE with QTS.
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two provides the opportunity to:
- Take on teaching responsibility of up to 18 hours per week
- Complete a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Continue receiving school-based mentoring and professional support
- Develop your teaching practice through structured training and assessment
- Work towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
- Progress towards becoming a fully qualified French Teacher
