Trainee English Teacher
Partnerships Co-ordinator
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to begin your journey as a Trainee English Teacher in a supportive secondary school in Norfolk. As part of the Grad2Teach programme, you will take on a graduate teaching role where you can train, earn, and develop your classroom skills from day one.
You will initially support English lessons, working closely with experienced teachers to build your confidence in planning, behaviour management, and student engagement. As a graduate trainee teacher, you will gradually increase your classroom responsibilities while completing a Level 4 teaching qualification.
This salaried teacher training programme allows you to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a real school environment while preparing for progression into a full PGCE route.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is ready to begin a career in teaching. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- A degree in English or a related subject
- GCSEs C/4 or above in English and Mathematics
- A passion for literature, language, and education
- A desire to become a qualified secondary English teacher
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Commitment, reliability, and a willingness to learn
Whether you are a recent graduate or a career changer, this role is perfect for an aspiring teacher, trainee educator, or future English teacher looking for a structured and supportive route into the profession.
Training & Progression
The Grad2Teach programme offers a clear, structured pathway into teaching:
- Phase One (Level 4 Qualification):
Gain classroom experience while completing an NCFE-accredited Level 4 qualification focused on the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teaching Standards. Training is delivered alongside your school role, allowing you to develop without the pressure of a full timetable - Phase Two (PGCE with QTS):
Progress into a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status, delivered in partnership with Coventry University. At this stage, you will take on a more independent teaching timetable while continuing your professional development
This two-phase salaried teacher training route ensures you build confidence gradually and become a fully qualified English teacher.
