Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Key Stage 1 (KS1) opportunity at a welcoming primary school in Haringey, North London. This salaried Phase One position is ideal for candidates who have already gained valuable classroom experience and are ready to take the next step towards becoming a qualified teacher.
Unlike many entry-level training roles, this position offers opportunities to undertake some teaching responsibility from the outset, allowing you to build on your existing experience while working towards your Level 4 qualification and progressing towards Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will:
- Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 classes
- Deliver planned lessons and lead learning activities under guidance from experienced teachers
- Cover classes when required and contribute to maintaining high standards of learning and behaviour
- Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development
- Assess pupil progress and contribute to planning and classroom preparation
- Work closely with mentors to develop your teaching practice and classroom management skills
- Play an active role in the wider life of the school
This role is ideal for someone who has already demonstrated their ability to work confidently with primary-aged children and is ready to move towards a teaching career through a structured salaried training programme.
About You – Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who already have practical experience working in primary schools and are ready to develop into outstanding teachers.
You will:
- Be an aspiring Primary teacher with a passion for Key Stage 1 education
- Hold a degree or be on track to complete one before starting the programme
- Have experience covering classes and leading learning within a primary school setting
- Have worked as a Teaching Assistant, Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, Learning Support Assistant or similar role
- Demonstrate confidence when working independently with groups or whole classes
- Be enthusiastic, reflective and committed to professional development
- Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
- Be committed to high standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach's fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model.
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Develop your teaching skills through practical classroom experience
- Receive mentoring, coaching and regular lesson observations
- Access training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers' Standards
- Gain increasing teaching responsibility as your confidence and competence develop
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Teaching responsibility of up to 18 hours per week
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and instructional coaching
- Development towards meeting all Teachers' Standards
This structured programme provides a clear pathway from classroom practitioner to fully qualified Primary teacher.
