About Profile

About Michael

Michael brings a combination of subject knowledge, professional experience and a considered approach to teaching. He holds a 2:1 BA (Hons) in History from the University of East Anglia and has a particular interest in early medieval Britain. His academic background has developed his ability to evaluate evidence, question sources and construct balanced arguments, skills he hopes to encourage in his pupils.

During his career as a police officer, Michael delivered a 15-week training programme to new recruits and subsequently completed a one-year Further and Adult Education Teachers Certificate, enabling him to teach history to adult learners. He has also worked as a primary school teaching assistant, supporting pupils across several subjects and gaining valuable classroom experience.

Michael's strengths include clear communication, patience, planning and the ability to adapt explanations to different learners. He recognises that transitioning into secondary education will require further development in classroom management, curriculum delivery and assessment. However, his previous teaching experience, maturity and willingness to reflect on his practice provide a sound foundation for teacher training.

Michael has made a deliberate career choice to pursue history teaching and offers schools a trainee with relevant transferable skills, genuine subject interest and the potential to develop into a thoughtful, well-organised teacher.
