Grad2Teach is offering an exciting Graduate Trainee Teacher – Geography opportunity at a forward-thinking secondary school in Bristol, starting in a Cover Supervisor capacity. This salaried role allows you to begin your journey as a Phase One trainee, gaining valuable classroom and behaviour management experience while studying towards your Level 4 qualification, with a clear progression route to Phase Two, PGCE and QTS.

As a Grad2Teach trainee, you will initially work as a Cover Supervisor, delivering pre-planned lessons across the curriculum, with a particular focus on Geography. Over time, you will increasingly support teaching and learning within the Geography department, developing subject knowledge, classroom practice and confidence under the guidance of experienced teachers and mentors.
This role is ideal for a graduate who wants to earn while they train, build strong classroom presence, and take a structured and supported route into a career as a qualified Geography teacher.
About You – Candidate Profile
You may be a recent graduate, aspiring teacher, teaching assistant or cover supervisor with a passion for Geography and education. We are looking for someone who:
• Is a motivated aspiring Geography teacher / graduate trainee
• Has a strong interest or degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences or a related field
• Is confident, adaptable and keen to develop strong behaviour management skills
• Is enthusiastic, reflective and committed to continuous improvement
• Can build positive relationships with young people and maintain high expectations
• Is committed to whole-school values, teamwork and professional growth
• Wants to develop their teaching practice through structured mentoring and training
Training & Progression with Grad2Teach
This role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training
• Complete a Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
• Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards
• Learn through guided practice, observations, professional learning sessions and in-school experience
• Develop confidence through cover supervision and supported classroom practice
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)
Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
• Increased teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)
• Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
• Ongoing mentoring, assessment and development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured pathway ensures you gain the skills, confidence and accreditation needed to begin your career as a fully qualified Geography teacher.
