About the Role
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will earn while you learn, completing Grad2Teach's Level 4 qualification and building the foundations for progression towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE. This is an ideal opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, teaching assistants, tutors, learning mentors, or career changers seeking a rewarding route into primary education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting high-quality teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom.
- Assisting pupils in achieving their academic potential across the primary curriculum.
- Working with small groups and individual learners to raise attainment.
- Supporting literacy, numeracy, and SATs preparation activities.
- Developing behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.
- Learning effective teaching strategies through coaching and mentorship.

About You
We are seeking a graduate trainee, aspiring teacher, trainee educator, or future primary teacher who:
- Holds a degree in any subject area.
- Has Primary classroom teaching experience.
- Has a passion for primary education and child development.
- Is enthusiastic about supporting Year 6 pupils during a key stage of their learning journey.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is reliable, professional, and committed to personal development.
- Has the motivation to complete a salaried teacher training programme and progress towards becoming a qualified teacher.
Training & Progression
Phase One – Level 4 Qualification
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will:
- Complete the Grad2Teach Level 4 qualification.
- Gain practical classroom experience from day one.
- Develop your understanding of effective primary teaching practice.
- Build evidence against the Core Content Framework (CCF).
- Work towards meeting the Teachers' Standards.
- Receive regular coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
Phase Two – PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status Route
Following successful completion of Phase One, you will progress to:
- Increased responsibility for lesson planning and delivery.
- Independent teaching opportunities.
- Continued instructional coaching and support.
- PGCE study delivered in partnership with Coventry University.
- Progression towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
