Training & Progression

Grad2Teach provides a structured salaried route into teaching, combining practical school-based experience with progressive professional training.

Phase One – Level 4 Qualification

During Phase One, you will work towards the Grad2Teach Level 4 qualification while developing your teaching skills within a real secondary school environment.

Your training and professional development will be informed by the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards, helping you build strong foundations for a successful career in education.

Your development will include:

• Lesson planning and preparation.
• Classroom and behaviour management.
• Effective English teaching and learning.
• Subject-specific teaching strategies.
• Assessment and monitoring pupil progress.
• Supporting pupils with different abilities and learning needs.

Phase Two – Independent Teaching and PGCE

Following successful completion of Phase One and subject to programme requirements, trainees can progress into Phase Two of the Grad2Teach teacher training programme.

During Phase Two, you will progress towards independent teaching, taking greater responsibility for planning, delivering and assessing lessons.

You will continue developing your classroom practice while progressing towards a PGCE with Coventry University and Qualified Teacher Status.

This structured PGCE route is designed to support your development from graduate trainee to confident classroom practitioner, combining hands-on school experience with professional teacher training.
