About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to begin your journey as a Trainee Primary Teacher in a supportive primary school in Norfolk, starting in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) role.

This graduate trainee teaching role offers a structured, salaried teacher training pathway with Grad2Teach, allowing you to gain valuable classroom experience while working towards a recognised Level 4 qualification.

As a trainee teacher / HLTA, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning across the primary age range
  • Deliver small group interventions and cover lessons when required
  • Build confidence in classroom management and lesson delivery
  • Work closely with experienced teachers and mentors
  • Gradually increase responsibility as you progress

This role is ideal for aspiring teachers looking for a paid teacher training programme in Norfolk with a clear progression route into full classroom teaching.

About You / Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated and committed individual who is ready to take the first step into teaching.

You may be:

  • A graduate trainee seeking a route into primary teaching
  • A current TA or HLTA ready to progress into a teaching career
  • A career changer with relevant transferable skills
  • An aspiring teacher passionate about supporting children’s development

Key qualities include:

  • A genuine interest in primary education and child development
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Reliability, resilience, and a proactive attitude
  • A willingness to learn and develop as a future teacher

Training & Progression

With Grad2Teach, you will follow a structured, school-based training programme designed to support your development every step of the way.

Phase One (HLTA + Training):

  • Complete a Level 4 NCFE qualification alongside your role
  • Gain hands-on classroom experience without full teaching pressure
  • Training aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teaching Standards

Phase Two (Teacher Training Route):

  • Progress into a full teaching timetable
  • Work towards a PGCE with QTS via Coventry University
  • Receive ongoing mentoring, observations, and structured support

This two-phase salaried teacher training programme allows you to earn, learn, and qualify as a teacher over time, typically within 1–2 years
