About the Role

As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will support the delivery of engaging Physics lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and, where appropriate, Key Stage 5. Working alongside experienced science teachers, you will develop your classroom practice, deepen your subject pedagogy, and gradually take responsibility for planning, teaching, and assessing lessons.

Throughout your training, you will complete Grad2Teach's Level 4 qualification, gaining valuable classroom experience while earning a salary and preparing for progression towards Qualified Teacher Status.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate trainee, future Physics teacher, or experienced education professional who is passionate about science education and committed to developing young people's curiosity and achievement.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A UK undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related discipline.
  • Previous teaching or classroom experience (essential), including teaching, tutoring, lecturing, cover supervision, or other substantial classroom leadership.
  • A strong understanding of Physics and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • A genuine desire to become a qualified secondary teacher.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • High expectations of student achievement and behaviour.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Whether you are currently working as an unqualified teacher, tutor, instructor, cover supervisor, lecturer, or an experienced teaching assistant with classroom teaching responsibilities, this graduate teaching role offers an outstanding pathway into the profession.

Training & Progression

Grad2Teach's salaried teacher training programme combines practical classroom experience with structured professional learning.

During Phase One, you will:

  • Achieve the Level 4 qualification.
  • Develop your teaching through the Core Content Framework (CCF).
  • Build evidence against the Teachers' Standards.
  • Receive personalised mentoring, coaching, and developmental observations.
  • Progress towards delivering increasingly independent lessons.

Following successful completion of Phase One, you will progress into Phase Two, where you will:

  • Take on greater independent teaching responsibilities.
  • Continue refining your classroom practice and subject expertise.
  • Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Complete your PGCE with Coventry University through the Grad2Teach programme.

This structured progression provides a clear and supportive route from trainee teacher to fully qualified Physics teacher.
