About the Role

Are you passionate about Mathematics and ready to inspire the next generation of learners?

Grad2Teach is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Mathematics Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Norfolk through our salaried teacher training programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Mathematics graduate, aspiring teacher, experienced teaching assistant, cover supervisor or career changer looking to enter the teaching profession while earning a salary.

Our structured, two-phase teacher training programme allows you to gain valuable classroom experience, develop your teaching skills and work towards becoming a fully qualified Mathematics Teacher.

During Phase One, you will work within the school's Mathematics department, supporting the delivery of engaging lessons and developing your confidence in classroom management, lesson planning and assessment.

As your experience grows, you will take on increasing teaching responsibilities, preparing you for progression into Phase Two, where you can complete a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status through our university partner, Coventry University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the teaching and learning of Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Work alongside experienced Mathematics teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons.

  • Provide individual and small-group support to students with varying mathematical abilities.

  • Develop your understanding of lesson planning, differentiation, assessment and behaviour management.

  • Build confidence in explaining mathematical concepts and supporting student progress.

  • Gradually take on greater classroom responsibilities as your teaching skills develop.

  • Participate in Grad2Teach training, mentoring and professional development activities.

  • Work towards the Teachers' Standards and prepare for progression into formal Initial Teacher Training.

About You

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about Mathematics and committed to helping young people achieve their potential.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject, such as Engineering, Physics, Economics or another numerate discipline.

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly.

  • A genuine enthusiasm for education and a desire to become a qualified secondary Mathematics Teacher.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.

  • A positive, patient and adaptable approach to working with young people.

  • A willingness to learn from experienced teachers and respond positively to feedback.

  • A professional, reliable attitude and a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Previous classroom experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from recent graduates, career changers, teaching assistants, higher-level teaching assistants and cover supervisors who are ready to take the next step towards qualified teaching.

Training & Progression – The Grad2Teach Pathway

Grad2Teach offers a flexible, salaried route into teaching, combining practical school-based experience with structured professional qualifications.

Phase One – Level 4 Qualification

During Phase One, you will:

  • Work in a secondary school while receiving a salary.

  • Complete an NCFE-accredited Level 4 Customised Qualification appropriate to your experience and responsibilities.

  • Develop essential teaching skills, including lesson planning, behaviour management, safeguarding and assessment.

  • Undertake structured training informed by the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers' Standards.

  • Receive guidance, mentoring and ongoing professional development support.

  • Build a strong foundation for progression into formal Initial Teacher Training.

Phase One allows you to gain valuable classroom experience and develop your confidence before taking on the responsibilities of independent teaching.

Phase Two – PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status

Once you are ready to progress, you can move into Phase Two of the Grad2Teach programme.

During this stage, you will:

  • Take responsibility for your own Mathematics teaching timetable.

  • Develop greater independence in planning, delivering and assessing lessons.

  • Complete a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through Coventry University's National Institute of Teaching and Education (NITE).

  • Receive continued support from Grad2Teach, school-based mentors and university tutors.

  • Work towards becoming a fully qualified secondary Mathematics Teacher.

Successful completion of the PGCE with QTS route also provides 60 Master's-level credits.

Why Choose Grad2Teach?

Unlike traditional university-led teacher training routes, Grad2Teach allows you to develop your teaching career while working in a school and earning a salary.

With Grad2Teach, you benefit from:

  • Earn while you train: Gain paid classroom experience from the beginning of your training journey.

  • Practical experience: Develop your skills in a real secondary school environment.

  • Recognised qualifications: Complete a Level 4 qualification before progressing towards PGCE and QTS.
