About the Role

Training & Progression

Grad2Teach provides a structured salaried teacher training route designed to help aspiring teachers build their skills progressively while gaining meaningful experience in school.

Phase One – Level 4 Qualification

During Phase One, you will combine your school-based role with the Grad2Teach Level 4 qualification.

Your development will focus on the knowledge and practical skills required for effective teaching, with training informed by the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards.

You will gain experience in areas including:

  • Classroom management and positive behaviour.
  • Lesson planning and preparation.
  • Supporting effective teaching and learning.
  • Subject-specific classroom practice.
  • Assessment and student progress.
  • Safeguarding and professional responsibilities.
  • Reflective practice and professional development.

This gives you the opportunity to build a strong foundation before taking on greater teaching responsibility.

Phase Two – Progress Towards PGCE and QTS

Successful completion of Phase One can lead to Phase Two of the Grad2Teach teacher training programme.

During Phase Two, trainees progress towards greater responsibility for independent teaching while continuing their professional development.

The route includes progression towards a PGCE with Coventry University and Qualified Teacher Status, subject to successful progression and programme requirements.
