About the Role
This Trainee English Teacher position offers a unique opportunity to train, earn, and develop within a thriving secondary school environment in Surrey.
Working as part of a dedicated English department, you will gain hands-on classroom experience while completing Grad2Teach’s structured Phase One Level 4 qualification. The role is designed for graduates and aspiring teachers who already have experience working with young people in an educational setting and are now ready to move into salaried teacher training.
As a graduate trainee teacher, you will:
- Support the delivery of engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Develop behaviour management and classroom teaching skills
- Work closely with experienced teachers and mentors
- Build confidence in lesson planning, assessment, and differentiation
- Gain practical experience aligned with the Teachers’ Standards and Core Content Framework (CCF)
- Progress towards independent teaching responsibilities in Phase Two

Training & Progression
Grad2Teach provides a structured and supportive pathway into teaching through a salaried training model.
During Phase One, you will:
- Complete the Level 4 qualification in education and teaching
- Develop classroom practice aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF)
- Build evidence towards the Teachers’ Standards
- Receive mentoring and instructional coaching from experienced educators
Successful completion of Phase One can lead to Phase Two, where trainees move into increased independent teaching responsibilities and work towards a PGCE with Coventry University.
