About the Role

Are you a Computing, Computer Science or IT graduate looking for a rewarding career in education? Do you have a passion for technology, programming and digital innovation, and want to inspire the next generation?

Grad2Teach is recruiting a Trainee Computing Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring teacher or career changer to gain valuable classroom experience while following a structured, salaried teacher training programme.

Through Grad2Teach's two-phase training pathway, you will develop the knowledge, confidence and practical teaching skills needed to become a fully qualified secondary Computing Teacher.

About the Role

As a Phase One Trainee Computing Teacher, you will work alongside experienced teaching professionals, supporting the delivery of Computing and Computer Science across the secondary curriculum.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting Computing and Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Helping students develop their understanding of programming, coding, algorithms, digital literacy and computer systems.

  • Assisting with lesson planning, classroom activities and assessment.

  • Delivering small-group interventions and supporting students with different learning needs.

  • Developing classroom management, behaviour management and teaching strategies.

  • Gradually taking on greater teaching responsibilities as your confidence and experience grow.

  • Working closely with experienced teachers and school mentors to develop your subject knowledge and teaching practice.

This graduate teaching opportunity is designed to provide practical classroom experience without the immediate pressure of managing a full teaching timetable.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable individual who is passionate about Computing and interested in pursuing a long-term teaching career.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in Computing, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related subject.

  • Have a strong understanding of computing concepts, programming and digital technologies.

  • Be enthusiastic about inspiring young people to explore technology and develop digital skills.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Be organised, adaptable and willing to learn.

  • Have a positive approach to supporting students of different abilities.

  • Be committed to professional development and progression towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Previous classroom experience, tutoring, mentoring or working with young people would be advantageous but is not essential.

We also welcome applications from career changers with professional experience in IT, software development, cybersecurity or related technology industries who are looking to transition into secondary teaching.
