About the Role

As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will gain extensive classroom experience while completing Grad2Teach's structured salaried teacher training programme. You will work closely with experienced primary practitioners, supporting pupils in Year 6 as they prepare for SATs and transition into secondary education.

This role provides a clear route into teaching through Grad2Teach's Level 4 qualification, leading towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom.
  • Delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Assisting with SATs preparation, literacy, and numeracy development.
  • Supporting pupil progress and engagement across the curriculum.
  • Developing classroom management and behaviour management strategies.
  • Contributing to lesson preparation and classroom activities.
  • Building confidence and expertise through practical teaching experience.

    About You

    We are looking for a graduate trainee, aspiring teacher, trainee educator, or future primary teacher who:

    • Holds a degree in any subject area.
    • Has previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
    • May currently work as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Tutor, Cover Supervisor, Mentor, Youth Worker, or similar role.
    • Has a genuine passion for primary education and supporting children's development.
    • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Is reliable, resilient, and committed to professional growth.
    • Is ready to take the next step into a structured salaried teacher training programme.
    • Please note: This opportunity is most suitable for candidates who already have some classroom-based or teaching-related experience and are looking to progress into a trainee teaching position.

      Phase One – Level 4 Qualification

      During Phase One, you will:

      • Complete the Grad2Teach Level 4 qualification.
      • Develop practical teaching skills through immersive classroom experience.
      • Receive regular mentoring and instructional coaching.
      • Build evidence against the Core Content Framework (CCF).
      • Work towards meeting the Teachers' Standards.
      • Develop confidence in planning, assessment, and classroom practice.

      Phase Two – PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status Route

      Following successful completion of Phase One, you will progress to:

      • Increased responsibility for teaching and learning.
      • Independent teaching opportunities.
      • Ongoing coaching and professional development.
      • PGCE study delivered in partnership with Coventry University.
      • Progression towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
      • Long-term career opportunities within primary education.
