About the Role

Are you a graduate or aspiring educator looking to begin a rewarding career in teaching? This Science Trainee Teacher opportunity in Suffolk offers a structured, salaried route into the profession through the Grad2Teach teacher training programme.

You will join a supportive secondary school in Suffolk, gaining hands-on classroom experience from day one. As a graduate trainee teacher, you will support Science lessons, work with pupils across Key Stages, and gradually build your confidence in delivering learning.

This is a salaried teacher training position, meaning you will earn while you train—developing practical skills in a real school environment while working towards a recognised teaching qualification.

Key features of the role include:

  • A Phase One Trainee Teacher position with a reduced timetable to support learning and development
  • Active involvement in Science lessons, practicals, and student support
  • A clear pathway into independent teaching and a long-term teaching career
  • Ongoing mentoring and in-school support

About You / Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated and committed individual who is ready to begin their journey as a trainee Science teacher.

You may be:

  • A graduate trainee with a degree in Science or a related subject
  • Holds GCSEs in Mathematics and English at least at a C/4 or above
  • A career changer looking for a meaningful and stable profession
  • An experienced cover supervisor, HLTA, or teaching assistant ready to progress

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a genuine passion for Science and education
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn
  • Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills
  • Be committed to becoming a fully qualified teacher

Training & Progression

Grad2Teach offers a two-phase salaried teacher training programme designed to support your development every step of the way.

Phase One (Level 4 Qualification)

  • Complete an NCFE Level 4 teaching qualification
  • Gain classroom experience without the pressure of a full timetable
  • Training aligned with the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teaching Standards
  • Develop skills in behaviour management, lesson support, and pedagogy

Phase Two (PGCE & QTS Route)

  • Progress into a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through Coventry University
  • Take on increased teaching responsibility with your own timetable
  • Receive ongoing mentoring, observations, and structured training
