About the Role

Are you passionate about sport and physical education, and ready to take the first step into primary teaching? A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Peterborough is offering a unique opportunity to join their team as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a focus on sport, while beginning your formal teacher training journey through the Grad2Teach programme.

This school has a strong ethos of active learning and personal development. It places great importance on physical education, recognising the vital role it plays in pupil wellbeing, engagement, and achievement. You’ll be working in a setting that values creativity, energy, and a whole-child approach.

The Role:
As a HLTA with a sports specialism, you will support and deliver high-quality PE lessons across the school, help lead extra-curricular sports clubs, and work closely with teaching staff to integrate movement and activity into the wider curriculum. Alongside your HLTA responsibilities, you’ll begin your teacher training with Grad2Teach, working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE through a structured, salaried route.

About Grad2Teach:
Grad2Teach is a school-based teacher training programme that provides a clear path to QTS and PGCE for graduates and career changers. You will receive in-school support, expert mentoring, and ongoing professional development while gaining practical teaching experience.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A UK undergraduate degree (ideally in Sport, PE, or a related field)

  • GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above in English< Science and Mathematics

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a school or coaching setting

  • A passion for sport and physical education

  • A commitment to pursuing a long-term career in primary teaching

What You’ll Receive:

  • A salaried HLTA role with a focus on sport and PE

  • A structured route to QTS and PGCE through Grad2Teach

  • Daily classroom and sports-based experience in a supportive primary school

  • Mentoring and tailored professional development as you train

If you're ready to turn your enthusiasm for sport into a rewarding career in primary education, this is the ideal opportunity to take that first step in a supportive and engaging school environment.
