About the Role

Are you an experienced teaching assistant or someone passionate about early education, ready to take the next step into teaching? A nurturing and inclusive primary school in Cambridge is offering an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in Key Stage 1, while beginning your path to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE through the Grad2Teach programme.

The school has a strong focus on early learning, creativity, and whole-child development, with a welcoming environment and a commitment to supporting trainee teachers. Located in the vibrant and historic city of Cambridge, it offers an excellent setting for both personal and professional growth.

The Role:
As a Key Stage 1 HLTA, you will support class teaching, deliver small group and whole-class lessons, and play a key role in the learning and progress of pupils aged 5–7. While working in this salaried role, you will also begin your structured teacher training with Grad2Teach — combining real experience with professional development and academic training.

About Grad2Teach:
Grad2Teach provides a school-based teacher training route for graduates and career changers, leading to QTS and PGCE. You’ll receive in-school support and expert mentorship while working and training in the classroom every day.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • An undergraduate degree

  • GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above in English, Science and Mathematics

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a school setting

  • A genuine passion for early years and Key Stage 1 education

  • A commitment to pursuing a long-term career in primary teaching

What You’ll Receive:

  • A salaried HLTA position in a Cambridge primary school

  • A structured route to QTS and PGCE through Grad2Teach

  • Regular mentorship and development in a supportive environment

  • Practical classroom experience from day one

If you're ready to build on your experience and train as a teacher in a Key Stage 1 setting, this role offers the ideal blend of support, structure, and professional opportunity — all within a thriving Cambridge school.
