About the Role

English Graduate Teacher Opportunity – Train at a Thriving Secondary School in Coventry!

Are you a passionate English graduate eager to turn your love for language and literature into a fulfilling teaching career? Would you like to earn while you train and achieve qualified teacher status without the burden of tuition fees?

A highly ambitious secondary school in the Coventry area is offering a fantastic opportunity for graduates to join their thriving English department through the Grad2Teach salaried teacher training programme.

About the School

This inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school is located on the outskirts of Coventry and prides itself on high expectations, strong pastoral support, and a creative, literacy-rich curriculum. The English department is a dynamic team that places reading, writing, and critical thinking at the heart of the student experience.

With excellent facilities, a welcoming staff community, and a strong commitment to professional development, the school offers an ideal environment for aspiring teachers to learn, grow, and make a real difference in young people’s lives.

The Grad2Teach Programme

This is not your standard route into teaching. Our two-phase salaried training programme is designed to provide real classroom experience alongside academic qualification. You will work towards a PGCE with QTS through our university partner, Coventry University.

Phase One

  • Teach with a reduced timetable while learning the craft of the classroom

  • Receive structured training aligned with the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework

  • Work closely with mentors and fellow trainees

Phase Two

  • Take on your own full timetable (up to 18 hours per week)

  • Continue academic study and refine your practice

  • Finish the programme as a fully qualified teacher, ready for the next step in your career

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in English or a related subject (minimum 2:2 preferred)

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or willingness to complete them during training)

  • A genuine passion for education and subject knowledge

  • Dedication, resilience, and a desire to make a positive impact

  • Willingness to commit to a rigorous but rewarding training journey

What’s in it for You?

  • A salaried training placement at a well-supported secondary school

  • A fully funded PGCE with QTS

  • On-the-job training and access to experienced teaching mentors

  • Personalised professional development and academic support

  • A direct pathway to a fulfilling teaching career in a high-demand subject
