About the Role

This Trainee English Teacher opportunity provides a structured and supportive route into teaching through Grad2Teach’s salaried teacher training programme. Based in a successful secondary school in  London, you will work closely with experienced educators while developing your classroom practice and confidence.

As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will:

  • Support English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Gain hands-on classroom experience in a graduate teaching role
  • Develop behaviour management and lesson delivery skills
  • Assist pupils with literacy, reading, writing, and communication
  • Build your teaching knowledge through mentoring and coaching
  • Follow a structured salaried teacher training pathway
  • Progress towards independent teaching responsibilities

This graduate trainee role is designed to help aspiring teachers develop the professional skills, subject knowledge, and confidence needed for a successful teaching career.

About You

We are looking for a motivated graduate trainee, trainee educator, or aspiring English teacher who is enthusiastic about inspiring young people through education.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in English or a related subject
  • A genuine passion for secondary English teaching
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working with young people
  • A positive, professional, and reliable approach
  • The ability to learn quickly and respond to feedback
  • A commitment to becoming an outstanding teacher

Previous experience working with young people, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or supporting learning is desirable but not essential.

Training & Progression

Grad2Teach provides a clear and supported route into the teaching profession through its innovative salaried teacher training programme.

During Phase One, you will:

  • Complete the Grad2Teach Level 4 qualification
  • Develop your practice in line with the Core Content Framework (CCF)
  • Build evidence towards the Teachers’ Standards
  • Receive mentoring and instructional coaching from experienced staff
  • Gain practical classroom experience in Hammersmith, London

Successful trainees can progress into Phase Two, where you will move towards independent teaching while completing your PGCE with Coventry University.

This long-term teacher training pathway allows graduates and career changers to train, earn, and qualify without following a traditional university-only route.
